We're delighted to announce that Roguecraft for the Amiga is now available!

And, as a special thank you to all our supporters, we're discounting the price of the game for the next 72 hours!

Thank you so much to everyone who downloaded the demo, suggested feedback, pre-ordered the physical version, and boosted our social media posts: the Amiga community has been amazing, and we couldn't do this without your support!

Thank you again - and take care in those dungeons!

I bought Roguecraft digital, because the box is sold out already.

Definetly want to buy the physical box! I already subscribed on your website. So please produce a second batch! :)

This game is beautiful and really well designed.

Just an inspiration: a "HiScore" to compare the runs with all the data stuff (which you get at the end of the run) would be nice :)

Well done!

Tried this great game on my real A500+ with 2MB Chipram (no FastMem on board). Booting from floppy goes fine till titlescreen. Before sound starts game freezes in titlescreen. Tried under Kickstart 1.3 and 3.1. No difference. The same floppy disk works nice on my stock A1200 with 2MB Chip. Ideas?

Can I ask if the music for this game was made with MusicLine Editor or similar software? It sounds too good to be ProTracker.

This is all ProTracker. Jogeir is a master at his craft 😊

I believe that Roguecraft is playable on a Mini A500 but I'm having trouble getting it started. Could someone give me a guide to how to get it working?

I have updated the Mini A500 to the latest firmware that can launch an ADF file. I created a ADF folder on my USB stick and added the Roguecraft ADF. When I run the file I get the following error message in AmigaDOS "Unable to load sys:roguecraft.exe: Error code 103". I hadn't previously added the exe file to the USB so I copied it into the root and, for good measure, also copied the WHDLoad folder over. I ran it again but got the same error.

I saw someone say that Error 103 was a memory issue. Does the Mini A500 not have enough?

I have a A1200 buried in the back of a cupboard but I was trying to avoid setting it all up again for a quick bit of gaming. 🙂

Any help? Thanks.

Hi there! Thanks for buying the game!

You need to put the A500 in Amiga 1200-mode. To do this you select the ADF file, press Menu to go into Game Setup menu, and there you can choose A1200. That should fix your problems.  Let us know if you have any further issues :)

I have no experience with Amiga or its emulators but this game looked really interesting and i had to give it a shot. Just finished a gaming session of a few hours and it was 100% worth it. Really fun. Thank y'all for making it

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's great to hear that the game is relevant to everyone, not only Amiga enthusiasts! :-D

is there a chance that there will be a second run for a physical boxed edition? I missed the first one.

Is there any plans to make this a PC port and sell it on Steam?

We have no plans of porting this version of the game, but we are planning the next evolution of the game that is aimed at modern platforms. There are no specifics yet, though :-)

Hello! I believe that error code means not sufficient memory. Roguecraft runs on A500 but do require 1MB Chip RAM + 1MB Other RAM or 2MB Chip RAM.

The same goes for Winuae (we can recommend using A1200 in Winuae). Hope this helps! :-)

Heh, BTW, great game for the whole family.

My 7 y-o kid loved it and reached lvl 7 at first play in easy mode :) I struggle in the other modes so difficult is perfectly balanced !

Also, each level adds something new and each playthrough is different :)

Great work !

Thanks for sharing! We’re really happy to hear that Roguecraft is a game that grown ups can play with their kids and still have a balanced challenge for everyone :-D

Have fun!

Is it possible to have an LHA in the zip file, guys? That would be really nice for those who do emulation.

(+2)

We will be updating the WHDLoad shortly to maske it easier for emulation :)

thanx a lot !

Wow ! Excellent work ! Thank you so much for your commitment !

I noticed the boxed version is sold out, will there be any more later?

We're hoping for enough demand to do another physical run in the future :-)

Thanks for the reply, hope you do! I'm just sad I missed it this time around :-(

Please add a high score table to this awesome Rogue like game👍

I really enjoy this game on my PiMiga (Pi400). Next step is to play it on my A1200. Great work and addictive gameplay.

Fun and addictive game and great to see how much additional polish it received since it's AmiGameJam Demo. I play it every evening on my Analogue Pocket (with CRT filter, brilliant!) before bedtime. Feels very complete in it's final, although I would surely support if it gets expanded somewhen.

Three minor things I personally would consider now:

1.) Mayor part of gameplay is to walk the right path to get the first hit on the monsters. However, when you walk against an obstacle you don't move since 'blocked' but enemies still do their turn.

2.) I like that two potions change their effect each time you play, but red potions should be health. It always is and I think this game is the only exception.

3.) To make the rogue playstyle more tactical: Instead of teleporting somewhere randomly, it may always teleport to an adjacent cell of an enemy and grant 100% hit probability for the first strike. Weaker than warrior but sneaky.

That's it. Congrats for release and looking forward to your next game, hopefully 'AMMIGGGAAAH' aswell ;-)

The game is impressive in every aspect. It brings the old days joy. I miss highscore table, but I've read already the explanation why is so. The sprite animation is so good but only when going down or right. Going left or up doesn't seem to look right. I wonder why is so. Why can't we see back views of characters? Anyways, great job. I appreciate that.

Hi there. Thank you!

The reason we only show two directions for player and monsters is both because we were originally targeting OCS, and also time constraints for Henning the artist. We wanted to do the best work we could within those constraints, and doubling the amount of animations would have meant reducing other things. 😊

The demo was addictive, the full game is good too, but something is missing. Considering the amount of time it takes to finish a game, the game feels slightly too similar. After some levels there's a lack of change in terms of levels, monsters and character. It feels weird that you can change the direction for a magic missile only by walking into that direction, there is no rotation only. Some change of music during the game or a different one, a variation, for each character could have been nice.

Excellent game. I played a little bit for the video, but I want to play some more. I also added it to my new "Gameplay of New Amiga Games from August 2024" video along with all the other recently released Amiga games.

Thank you! And thanks for including Roguecraft in your video! 😊
