Roguecraft Updated! (Version 1.5)
Back when Roguecraft was released some six months ago, we never thought the game would get so much attention, even outside of the Amiga community. The response has been amazing and very humbling, especially when the game won the Retro World Award at the recent Debug Indie Game Awards (that result was so surprising that the acceptance speech bordered on being a record short!).
As a thank-you to the amazing Roguecraft community, we have been working on an update that incorporates one of the most sought-after features: high scores!
We have also made the transition time between rooms shorter for players with faster machines, as well as several updates and bug fixes (see below). Thank you so much for supporting Roguecraft!
The latest ZIP file features the following updates and additions:
1. The new 1.5 version of the game on ADF, and also the WHDLoad version of the game, for those playing the game on real hardware.
2. An updated README file with additional troubleshooting information for those wishing to play the game on the A500 Mini.
3. A copy of the game manual in PDF format.
Updates and bug fixes:
- There is now a Highscore screen.
- The high scores are saved when exiting the Highscore screen after Game Over or completing the game.
- Faster transitions between rooms. On a stock A500 you will notice a delay after the transition, but for faster CPUs the transitions will be faster. Transition is hiding unpacking and was timed to A500. Now it is timed to A1200.
- Some changes to the end boss to make it more of a challenge.
- The Teleport ability of Rogue does not cost a turn anymore.
- The Teleport ability and potion now teleports to a random door area, so it is more useful to get out of a tight situation.
- Monsters that walk into traps actually walk into the traps instead of just getting insta-killed.
- Added sparkles on the title screen!
- Updated Wizard animation (less crooked back and improved walk animation)
- Updated Gluthulhu animation (an animation was played backward in previous version)
- Updated wall tiles for secret rooms. These should be a little more visible now!
- Updated main font.
- Updated some level graphics assets.
- Some minor text tweaks where there was inconsistent casing.
- Also fixed some gfx garbage in transitions between screens.

Loving the game!
I notice that the adf file doesnt work on an external floppy drive on original hardware, and when I put it in DF1 in WinUAE it also does not boot and work. Are there any plans to get this working on DF1 in the future? I might be missing something but I have a broken disk drive on mine so it would be pretty handy if it could work on multiple drives
Hi there. Roguecraft is a one-file executable, so it should work with df1. However it uses a lot of memory, so on an unexpanded Amiga 1200 it will fail loading if there is an external floppy connected, because the Amiga OS uses more memory when more drives are connected.
If you are getting the "103" code error, then it means there isn't enough memory.
Hi there
Is the update for previews buy not for free?
It is free - go to the game page and click the DOWNLOAD button at the top.
I don't get it. I was looking at Itch and https://www.thalamus.shop/product/roguecraft-amiga but there is no download …
You would need to purchase the game to download; if you purchased the preview, there is no way to download the full game for free unfortunately.
So no update if I bought the 1.0 Version than … That's sad …
Hi there! Cheers for the update! Would you mind providing a LHA file please? It would be so much easier than an ADF indeed. This would be really appreciated! Keep pushing 💪
Oops. Sorry. The zip-file has been updated now with an lha in it :)
thanks for the update, but I'd hoped you'd have left the lha file, for emulation it's much easier to use than an adf file.
I don't have a real amiga on hand to compile the file myself, sorry.

thanks !
This game looks great. Please re-release your game as a physical version for those that missed it the first time. Thanks.
Thanks! New physical boxes will be available again soon :-) If you sign up to the newsletter on Thalamus Digital you'll get notified... Or just keep an eye on our social media.
That is great news! I will definitely be keeping an eye out to purchase. Thank you!
Nice. Great tweaks for a great game. So addictive.
The box looks awesome on my Amiga games shelf. Beautiful art work.
Thank you for making it. Seriously, a fantastic game for any computer in any decade, but on the Amiga it's really something special - even emulated!
YES THANK YOU finally HIGH SCORES !!! Now it’s a ‘complete’ Rogue game on AMIGA🥳👍❤️💾🙇♂️
Hi, maybe the dumbest question of all, but I could not find any answer for myself: I got the physical copy last year. How can I download the update right now?
Th the top of the game page you should see a "Download" button - click on that and download the very latest ZIP file.
Wow. Many thanks for the update which comes unexpectedly and contains many of the desired features. You guys are great!
BUT: the .adf in the Zip file you receive when you already bought the game is the old version. You have to replace it. Thanks.
Can you check that you've downloaded the very latest ZIP file?
Now i downloaded again. This time the correct .adf is included. Thanks!
