Roguecraft (AmiGameJam version)
Hi there!
We just released a work in progress version of Roguecraft as an entry to AmiGameJam. We have been debating whether or not we should do this, since it is an unfinished game, and still has a few (mostly graphical) glitches. There are also quite a few things missing that will be in the final release.
We ended up releasing this demo to get feedback on how the game looks and feels, and what kind of hardware it works on. It should *hopefully* work on most Amigas. The base spec is Amiga 500 with 1mb RAM (512kb Chip + 512kb other).
Since we are missing quite a few features, we have also restricted this version to 4 levels. When you go through the portal on Level4 you will complete the game. This is because we don't have all the monsters we want for the harder levels, so the experience would not have been good.
The recommend spec is Amiga1200 or greater for a smoother experience. The actual gameplay should be good on any machine, but there is a lot of asset unpacking between rooms, and for now that is not optimized, so walking between rooms is a little slower on a slower 68k CPU.
We hope you have a nice time playing Roguecraft AmiGameJam version! We have poured a lot of love into this. Even though it is a bit rough around the edges and short, we hope it still is a nice experience.
We greatly appreciate any feedback!
PS! We will be adding an instruction screen as soon as we can, and fix any game breaking bugs.

Is the roguecraft-amijam.adf still somewhere available for download or other demo I can check on my Amiga or UAE? Thx!!
Hi there. There might be a copy floating around the internet, but we removed it from here since the demo no longer is representative of what the game has to offer. 😊
I might be just a bad in searching the Internet, but I was not able to find it:(
Very good news! Thanks!!!
Any progress here? Hopefully the game will see the light of the day.
Hi there. Yes! There is progress. Sorry for the radio silence. The game is just about done, and we will be opening pre-orders as soon as possible.😊
Works fine on real A1200 030 50Mhz OS 3.2.2.1. As mentioned elsewhere i have also a continuous spinning floppy. And a bug. I think it is one. In every first room of each lvl if you go to the very left corner and try to get outside you are transfered to the right site above with a flickering sprite and the comment „Blocked!“.
Good progress so far!
When the fire button is tapped, the game enters a state where enemies can move freely and attack without player input first. This also causes the player to be able to move between tiles instantly.
This glitch can be worked around by holding the fire button until the inventory is highlighted, then by releasing. Enemies will behave as they should, as well as the player animation functioning as normal.
Cheers!
Thank you! And thank you for your feedback. You are right! That is a bug. I have already fixed it, but we are not allowed to upload new versions while the voting is ongoing for the AmiGameJam.
We will upload the fix as soon as we are able to.🙂
Thank you! Receiving error 103 on MiSTer Amiga 500 with 512/512
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't been able to try Roguecraft on a MiSTer. 103 is too little memory. Are you trying to run it from wb console? Or do you have multiple floppy drives configured? I think each floppy drive connect takes a little extra memory, and RC uses a lot of chip mem atm. 🙂
Direct boot no WB. It does have two floppies configured. I will try again later and report. Thank you for the demo!
It happens on Kickstart 1.2/1.3 when at least 2 floppies are connected. Kickstart 3.1 doesn't have this issue, while Amigas with 1MB chip can run the game with extra drives connected on 1.2/1.3.
thanks!
very good
